Kappa Alpha Theta Newsletter September 2007 Hello parents and alumnae! I hope that everyone is enjoying the fall weather and football season. It’s hard to believe that another month has passed and it’s once again time for the newsletter. Enjoy!! Events: Sun Run The 24th annual Sun Run, Kappa Alpha Theta’s main philanthropy, is on October 21st at 2:00 pm at the University of Kansas campus. All money raised by Sun Run is donated to CASA which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates and benefits youth in Douglas County that have been placed in the court system. More information about CASA is available on Theta’s website, at www.kutheta.com, under the philanthropy tab. Sun Run is a 5K/10K walk/run around the beautiful KU campus. Entry fees are fifteen dollars with pre-registration and twenty dollars if registering on the day of the race. If you are one of the first two hundred participants to sign up you will also receive a free Sun Run t-shirt. Check-in will be located at the Burge Unions and runners can either sign up the day of the race at 1:00 pm or can fill out entry forms before the day of the race and drop them off at the Kappa Alpha Theta House with the money or mail them by the 16th. Participants that pre-register do not have to be at the Kansas Union until 1:30 pm. Entry forms will be available for pre-registration at the Kappa Alpha Theta House and various locations around Lawrence. Also, a printable entry form is attached to this e-mail. The course will go through the University of Kansas campus. Runners can either do the 5K or 10K but walkers are limited to the 5K due to time constraints. Shirts with this year’s Sun Run logo are available for purchase for 15$. The money from these shirts will go towards Douglas County CASA and will be available to pick up the week after the race however these will have to be ordered before October 21st. Please come to support CASA and Kappa Alpha Theta on the 21st for Sun Run. Even if you feel overwhelmed by the thought of running for 10K come with a friend and take a relaxing walk through the KU campus. Get in shape and support kids in Douglas County at the same time!!!! Initiation Initiation for the new member class of 2007 was held last Friday, September 28. Initiation went great and we would like to thank all of the alumnae for helping to make it so special for the new Thetas. Kappa Alpha Theta members would like to officially welcome the pledge class of 2007 to Kappa Alpha Theta. Once again, the names of the new members are listed below. This time, however, I have listed their home towns next to their names due to many requests. I hope this helps!
